Ready to rock and roll!

My Story

I have always had a huge passion in all things health and wellness. From my first yoga class as a teenager to becoming a Diet, Health and Wellness Coach at 28, I have tried and tested many a diet, exercise regime and superfood that have crossed my path. I love how the body and its systems are so intricate and intertwined in design that we are still trying to figure out how everything works and connects. I love learning about the body, the mind and the spirit in equal measure.

This passion coincides with another passion of mine, teaching. I have been working as a primary school teacher for nearly 10 years now in Dublin. I love teaching, especially at the junior end. I have found that my students are my biggest teachers. They help me  to stay present, to laugh, to love and to live life to the fullest and of course not to take life too seriously.

As I studied to become a primary school teacher  I experienced a short but eye opening illness as a result of putting a lot of pressure and expectation on my young shoulders. For 3 months I was prescribed repeat prescriptions for something that may or may not have been there, as I awaited results. A nasty stomach infection would prompt me to question how much the stress I was under and how the food I was eating was impacting on my body and how little value my doctor placed in the same questions. I began to delve deeper into the area of nutrition and so began a passion for both wellness and teaching. I continued to learn through various coaches about eating for nutrition, however I still wanted to know the ‘why’ behind their advice.

In 2013 I became a student once again studying Diet, Health and Wellness Coaching with the Institute of Health Sciences and since then I have continued my training in Advanced Health and Wellness Coaching , N.L.P Counselling, Stress Management and Reiki Mastership.

Qualified Coach here people!

My coaching journey started with myself as I used my own lifestyle, relationships and experiences to apply these new and at times challenging techniques and strategies to all areas of my life. In looking at my life as a whole I could determine which areas I needed more balance, guidance, care or attention. You cannot get a true picture of your wellness by just looking at one element such as diet. Our mind set, beliefs and consequently our actions and behaviours define our reality and often we are the biggest barriers we face in making the changes we want to see in our lives. This was one of the hardest lessons for me to learn but the most enlightening and liberating.

My journey started within, as does each of my clients. I do not tell them what to do or how to do it. I don’t provide quick fixes for the perfect body or diet as I believe there is no such thing, not in the long run. There is no Holy Grail that will provide the health, wealth or happiness that we seek. I guide my clients to make lasting changes to their lives as a whole, providing the tools and support they need for that journey. I guide them to tune into the abundant stream of well-being  within themselves, their Wholly Grail.

My journey is still ongoing and at the moment I am delighted that both my passions are coinciding more regularly as more and more people see the importance of learning the necessary tools for a healthy mind, body and soul for both themselves and their children. In my school I run healthy cooking clubs and mindfulness meditation clubs for the children. I work with teachers and parents to share tips and techniques about health and well being for themselves and their children.

I have also started another chapter in my own learning in beginning my Yoga Teacher Training.

As I continue on my path I look forward to more change, expansion, learning and growing on this journey of life.
